LowerNine.org 

LowerNine.org is dedicated to the long term recovery of the Lower Ninth Ward.  They help with both food distribution and the renovation and restoration of houses damaged by hurricanes and floods. They help distribute the food that Farming New Orleans grows at the Levee Food Pantry, which provides food to about 40 families in the Lower Ninth Ward on Saturdays and 20 families on Tuesdays. Burnell's

Burnell runs the only market in the Lower Ninth Ward.   He has been known to give away food to people who cannot pay or just puts the bill on the customer's tab.   Farming New Orleans donates produce to the market so that there will be fresh fruits and vegetables here.  Visit his Facebook page.
